The base of a wine bottle is never smooth. There is often a symetrical pattern of ridges molded into the base to decrease the chances of sliding when wet.We find this pattern of ridges to often be very decorative and quite aesthetic in it's own right, but typically nobody ever sees them. This piece exposes these little hidden objects of beauty by flipping the base upside down.
Emelia is made using a base from a Bordeaux style bottle and a top from a Burgundy bottle. A tealight candle holder is then permanently placed in the interior of the cut and polished upper portion. |
